Voice User Interface

UX design should be accessible to all types of people. With so much focus on visual aids and stimulation, a lot of us forget that UX can exist in an all-inclusive space. That being said, this project aimed to utilize voice as a responsive component to interface building. The use of Alexa and voice chatbots has opened my eyes to a limitless world of voice interfaces, and I wanted to apply it to a constructive project that can be used on my college campus.

Due to mental stressors from the academic school year, there is an increase in stressed and anxious students on campus. There's a need to find a designated and isolated space to engage in self-care for mental health. This can easily be resolved by creating a space in one of NYU's academic buildings where students can go to engage in self-care. That being said, my team and I decided to do branding and content creation for a "Zen Den". This space is aided with the help of Alexa chatbot skills that were programmed to give meditative exercises when prompted through its chatbot. Thus, students could engage in a variety of activities from a breathing exercise to a five-minute meditation. Here is our work!

Project Outline:

This was such a fun creative project to give back to our fellow students. The research and practices of usability testing really expanded my work with interface design and workflows. Overall, this project has developed into a really thorough understanding of what UI looks like to me.
